Purpose
Screening or evaluation of upper digestive symptoms and findings.
Preparation
Fasting and medication review are required before the procedure.

What the examination reviews
Upper GI endoscopy allows the physician to inspect the upper digestive tract and, when appropriate, take a small tissue sample or perform treatment through the scope.
- Tell the team about all medicines, allergies and prior reactions.
- Follow the issued fasting instructions so the area can be examined safely.
- Arrange transportation if the clinic confirms that sedation will be used.
